Two Distinct Servers, Different Purposes
HubSpot actually ships two separate MCP offerings: one lets any MCP-compatible AI tool or agent connect directly to your CRM data (contacts, deals, engagements), and a second is aimed at developers building on HubSpot's own Developer Platform. Don't conflate the two — the first is for using HubSpot data in an AI client, the second is for building HubSpot apps with AI assistance.
Real Read/Write Access, Not Just Lookups
The CRM-facing server gives an AI tool genuine read and write access to core objects — contacts, deals, engagements — through natural conversation, meaning an agent can both answer questions about your pipeline and actually update records, not just report on them.
The ChatGPT Deep Research Connector
In June 2025, HubSpot launched a "deep research" connector specifically for ChatGPT, letting users ask natural-language questions and get live answers pulled directly from their HubSpot data — a genuinely early, concrete example of a CRM vendor building specifically for an AI client rather than just a generic API.
