MCP Capability Negotiation
Definition
Capability negotiation happens in the initialize exchange. The client declares what it supports; the server declares what it provides. This lets different implementations interoperate safely by only using mutually-supported features.

tools (list/call), resources (list/read/templates), prompts (list/get), logging, completions, experimental.
